ENGLISH COURSE

Learn fashion in English while in Japan

The 1st and 2nd grades of this course are taught in English, while the 3rd grade is in Japanese (English and French are available if the instructor is a foreigner).
The curriculum is the same as the Design & Creation Course, in which students study design and pattern & sewing together, and acquire the knowledge and skills necessary for fashion professionals thoroughly.
The course is taught in English, making it suitable for international students who are not proficient in Japanese and Japanese students who wish to work abroad in the future.

Graduates (including those expected to graduate) from high school or those recognized as having an equivalent level of education, as well as graduates, university students, vocational school students, and working professionals.

Those with a basic level of fashion education may also transfer directly into the second year (transfer examination required).
International students are subject to conditions related to their status of residence and Japanese language proficiency for admission.

Educational Purpose

Just like the Design & Creation Course, we cultivate fashion professionals who acquire solid skills and rich sensibility through both practical knowledge and innovative strategies, enabling them to be immediately effective upon graduation.
We provide an international learning environment for foreign students who are not proficient in Japanese and for students who wish to pursue careers abroad in the future.

At ESMOD Tokyo, you can showcase your work in a fashion show starting from your first year.
2nd Grade

Building on the foundational knowledge acquired during the first year, students will enhance their skills by applying advanced techniques to create complex garments, such as jackets, mastering the ability to handle a wide range of designs.
To deepen their understanding of the fashion industry, students will participate in industry-university cooperative projects and corporate partnerships.
These initiatives provide a chance to engage in practical collection creation from the perspective of managing a brand.

From the second year, students can choose to specialize in Metawear, focusing on 3D design tools within the Stylism program, or specialize in menswear within the Modelism program (please contact us for more details on these specializations).

In the industry-university collaboration project, students will gain a comprehensive understanding of the product life cycle and the practical aspects of the fashion industry, from planning and design to pattern making, merchandising, production, public relations, marketing, visual presentation, and sales, by launching a brand as a group.
Through collaborations with companies, students will also participate in projects related to SDGs and upcycling, gaining hands-on experience from planning to commercialization.
3rd Grade

Using the skills developed in the first and second years, students will create their own collections as individual brands in their chosen fields.
After presenting their work to a panel of fashion industry experts, including professionals and designers, they will showcase their graduation collections in a fashion show.

Students will present their portfolios and work tailored to their desired brands for the Job Hunting session held on campus. It is not uncommon for job offers to be secured through these presentations.
For the Graduation Collection, students are responsible for everything, from the creation of the looks to arranging the venue and models, planning the show's structure and production, and managing operations on the day.
This provides hands-on experience in the entire process, from planning to executing a fashion show as a brand would in the industry.
