CNAM BACHELOR COURSE

The only place in Japan where you can learn about innovation in the fashion industry and become an international bachelor

This course is a partnership between CNAM (Conservatoire National des Arts et Métiers: CNAM), a French higher education institution, and ESMOD, allowing students to obtain an International Bachelor's degree (equivalent to a bachelor's degree) while in Japan. The course aims to nurture the next generation of leaders who will become pioneers in the fashion industry, and is the only course in Japan that specializes in fashion innovation.

Admission Requirements

Only those who meet one of the following educational requirements and have the equivalent of ESMOD course credits or knowledge required to take the course can earn the Bachelor's degree.

・Graduation from an ESMOD Fashion Design Faculty
・Graduation from a 3-year fashion college other than ESMOD
・Graduation from a 4-year college or junior college with a fashion-related faculty
・Graduation from a 4-year college or junior college other than a fashion school

*If you have graduated from a high school, you can take the course but cannot obtain the bachelor's degree.

Tuition

Registration fee ¥50,000 Tuition fee ¥370,000
You will need to pay additional tuition fees for English thesis guidance if you require assistance in writing your thesis in English or French (¥50,000 for FY2024).
The registration fee is a registration fee to the Conservatoire National des Arts et Métiers, CNAM (it is not an entrance fee to ESMOD).

Since the professors from the Conservatoire National des Arts et Métiers, CNAM, will be visiting Japan to give lectures, the schedule may not be finalized until close to the start of the course.

Course content

Educational Goals

The only course in Japan that teaches innovation management in the fashion industry to nurture human resources able to respond to the dizzying technological and market evolution actively, and innovatively become leaders of the next generation.
CNAM (Conservatoire National des Arts et Métiers) has partnered with ESMOD to offer a short course in which students will take online and in-person courses from French professors at CNAM and obtain the International Bachelor's Degree while in Japan.
The course is designed to provide students with a thorough understanding of the innovation process from conception to commercialization, and to cultivate the skills necessary to start a business in the fashion industry.
Curriculum

- Innovation Process: Learn cutting-edge concepts and methods for creating innovations
- Innovation Marketing: Gain critical knowledge of how to market your innovation
- Dissertation production: work in small groups to examine innovation projects for new products, services, and brands in the fashion industry
- English class (optional): practice writing a graduation thesis in English using academic expressions
Credit Conversion Items

To take CNAM courses, students must have credits for the following courses that can be acquired during their three years of study at ESMOD.
Current ESMOD students and graduates can earn credits for these subjects during their 3-year curriculum.
Students from other schools, such as vocational schools or universities, can transfer credits if they submit documents proving that they have completed these courses, or if their work experience has been approved by a screening process.

Gilles Garel

Gilles Garel is in charge of innovation management and entrepreneurship development.
His research focuses on innovative marketing strategies in companies across various industries.

Lionel Roure
Lecturer in Innovation Management and Marketing at CNAM
After obtaining his PhD in Management from Paris Dauphine University, Lionel Roure has worked in innovation management, corporate training, and counseling in various companies.
His research focuses on methods and processes of innovative innovation.
About Conservatoire National des Arts et Métiers (CNAM)

The Conservatoire National des Arts et Métiers (CNAM) was founded on October 10, 1794 by Father Gregoire, a key figure in the French Revolution. Father Gregoire founded this historic school on October 10, 1794. His goal was to “preserve all machines, tools, drawings, descriptions, books, and other inventions related to the arts and technology”.
Today, CNAM is part of the French Special Higher Education Institutions under the jurisdiction of the French Ministry of Higher Education. Since its founding, CNAM has been committed to “lifelong learning” and offers flexible support for those who want to improve their skills while working, through evening, Saturday, and online classes. The French school also offers a wide range of departments, such as economics, engineering, management, and communication.
In addition to educational and research institutions, the university contributes to the development of science and industry through its affiliated library (160,000 volumes/40,000 users) and the Paris Industrial Arts Museum (more than 80,000 exhibits/over 200,000 visitors each year).

It is possible to obtain an international bachelor's degree (equivalent to a bachelor's degree) from the Conservatoire National des Arts et Métiers (CNAM), issued by the French Ministry of Higher Education, while still being in Japan.

The class schedule is based on 2 hours of face-to-face classes on weekday evenings and 8 hours on Saturdays, or online, allowing busy people to learn while working and studying at the same time.
Classes are generally conducted in English & French with consecutive Japanese interpretation, allowing students to broaden their horizons in an international environment.
Foreign student visas are not available for this course.
