While studying at Esmod Tokyo, received the Grand Prize at the Kobe Fashion Contest. After completing the Master’s course at Istituto Marangoni in Milan, was awarded by the Italian Fashion Association’s Next Generation program, leading to the debut of a collection in Milan in 2012. Following design roles at John Richmond and Jil Sander, launched the personal brand harunobumurata in 2018. Since 2022, has participated in Rakuten Fashion Week Tokyo.

Student Life at ESMOD

My time at Esmod was a disciplined and demanding student life, striking a balance between the rigor and high expectations required and the joy of fully committing to the craft. The dedicated guidance of my mentors, who are still teaching with the same passion, remains a priceless asset to me, and I am confident in the value of their instruction to this day.

What I Learned and Gained at ESMOD

What I gained at Esmod was not only technical expertise but also the ability to engage in high-level discussions about design sensibility and intuition as a designer. I believe Esmod is one of the rare institutions where such comprehensive education is possible.

Post-Graduation Journey and Future Vision

After graduation, I had the opportunity to study abroad in Italy through a scholarship awarded during my time at Esmod. There, I gained valuable experience working at local maisons before returning to Japan. I am now running my own brand.

A Message to Aspiring Fashion Designers

Esmod is one of the few schools where you can genuinely aim for a world-class level in fashion. The program is undoubtedly challenging, but the dedicated faculty are committed to supporting students who are equally serious about their craft. Keep pushing forward and give it your all!
