Post-Graduation Journey
The reason I decided to study at ESMOD is because I had the opportunity to learn from instructors who were active professionals in the field. They taught me not just from textbooks, but from real, hands-on experience in fashion. They also offered invaluable guidance regarding my future career. While attending university, I took the Evening Modelism course and the Saturday Stylism course at ESMOD. I remember carrying a sketchbook with me every day, constantly brainstorming design ideas, and working late into the night on patterns and samples.
A Message to Aspiring Fashion Designers
I spent about a year and a half studying abroad in London, where I was involved in planning exhibitions. From this experience, I gained a renewed appreciation for the high quality of materials in Japan. After returning to Japan, I began visiting factories in various production regions every other week, writing articles and bridging the gap between factories and brands. Looking ahead, I hope to see more collaboration between skilled artisans in Japan and designers, leading to the creation of innovative new products. For those aiming to pursue a career in fashion, my advice is to develop both a logical and a sensory approach. First, it’s crucial to objectively identify your strengths and set concrete goals, establishing a logical framework for your growth. At the same time, don’t forget to cultivate a sense of passion for what you love and what moves you. Nurturing both aspects will be key to your success.
