This course is taught in English in the first and second years. In the third year, classes are taught in Japanese (if the instructor is a foreigner, English and French are also available).
The curriculum is the same as the comprehensive course, which combines design, pattern making, and sewing to comprehensively acquire the knowledge and skills necessary for fashion professionals.
Learning in English is suitable for international students whose Japanese is not yet their forte, as well as Japanese students who aspire to work overseas in the future.
High school graduates (including prospective graduates) or equivalent, current graduates, university and vocational school students, and working adults

International students are subject to requirements regarding residence status and Japanese language proficiency (see → For International Students for details).
A year dedicated to mastering the fundamental knowledge and skills essential for those aspiring to succeed in the fashion industry.
At Esmod Tokyo, students can present their work in fashion shows from their first year.
By applying the fundamental knowledge they have learned over the past year, students will acquire the skills to handle any design challenge through the creation of challenging heavy garments (such as jackets).
In addition, to further their understanding of the fashion industry, they will participate in industry-academia collaborative projects and collaborations with companies.
From the second year, students may choose specialized tracks: in Stylisme, a Digital Fashion specialization using 3D design tools; in Modélisme, a Menswear specialization. (For details about specializations, please contact the school office.)
As part of industry–academic collaboration projects, students engage in every stage of a product’s lifecycle—from planning, design, patternmaking, merchandising, and production to PR, marketing, visual presentation, and sales.
They also participate in corporate collaborations, including projects related to SDGs and upcycling, gaining practical experience from concept development to commercialization.
Using the skills developed in their first and second years, students will create their own collection as a brand in their chosen field. After a presentation is judged by fashion industry experts, including businesspeople and designers, students will present their graduation collection and fashion show.
Students will also create a commercial line based on the theme of their graduation collection. This comprehensive learning, geared toward a wide range of careers in the industry, will cultivate the mindset of a professional ready to take on the challenge immediately.
Classes in the third year are primarily conducted in Japanese, but if the instructor is a foreigner, English or French is also available.
Students present their portfolios and work tailored to the brands they are applying to at an on-campus job interview. This interview often leads to job offers.
Students are responsible for everything from the design of their graduation collection to arranging the venue and models, show composition and direction, and on-the-day operations.
This allows students to experience the process of planning and presenting an actual fashion show held by a brand.
